Kid’s Book Review: Barb the Brave and the Shadow Army

Kid’s Book Review: Barb the Brave and the Shadow Army

About the Book

The latest book in the popular graphic novel series about Barb the Brave berzerker, one of an elite crew of warriors who protects the land of Bailiwick from the scourge of monsters.

In this adventure Barb has been captured by the evil Witch Head and, too injured to fight back, her chances for freedom are slim. They’re both in for a surprise when her Berzerker mum, Raven comes to the rescue. The mother-daughter duo escapes but can’t stop Witch Head from summoning a powerful army from the Shadow Realm to take over Bailiwick.

Dan Abdo and Jason Patterson are long-time partners, best friends and co-creators of the animated comedy series Rocket Monkeys. Their credits also include developing shows for Disney, Sesame Workshop, Fox, and Nickelodeon, not to mention directing lots and lots of animated commercials!

Book Review

Anyone who enjoys reading comic books would love this book

The book is about Barb, Thunder, Raven, Witch Head, Pork Chop and Mitch.

To summarise Barb wants to help fight Witch Head because she doesn’t want Bailiwick to be destroyed. Barb’s Mom saves her from Witch Head. The witch puts a spell on the shadow army and Barb saves them.

The story is set around caves, mountains, forest and woods. I would say it’s inspired by Roman times.

I really enjoyed the book it was exciting and thrilling because I didn’t know what was going to happen next.

I love reading comic books because they are easy to read and follow. This book has loads of colourful illustrations and good art work. There are pictures and speech bubbles and brilliant drawings all the way though.

It made me feel happy reading the book. There is a sad bit in the book but overall it is full of fun and contains exciting pages.

I think there are these messages in the story:

1/Being strong protecting yourself saving others;

2/Sticking together.

3/Being loyal.

Anyone who enjoys reading comic books would love this book. It is an easy read and full of adventure, colour and excitement.
