Kid’s Book Review: Daddy Do My Hair: Beth’s Twists

About the Book and Author

This is a lovely book for a little girl to enjoy reading with her Daddy from author Tolá Okogwu and illustrator Chanté Timothy. It’s the evening before School Picture Day and Beth would like a brand new hairdo! Told in rhyme and brightly illustrated this book is published by Simon & Schuster.

It’s Sunday evening and dinner is over.
Beth is excited and heads to the sofa.
Daddy is there with a smile and a chair.
“Daddy,” she asks, “will you please do my hair?”

Daddy Do My Hair: Beth's Twists

Tolá Okogwu is a British Nigerian author, journalist, and hair care educator. Born in Nigeria but raised in London, she holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism. Having spent several years exploring the world of blogging, haircare, and freelance writing, she finally returned to her first love…fiction. She is the author of Onyeka and the Academy of the Sun, the self-published picture book series Daddy Do My Hair, and Aziza’s Secret Fairy Door under the name Lola Morayo.

Chanté Timothy is an illustrator who loves experimenting with movement, vibrant colour, character design and storytelling.Drawing for as long as she can remember, she’s always been that strange kid who’d ask for paper and pen to entertain herself instead of playing with toys. Chanté is a Pathways into Children’s Publishing 2019 – 2021 Alumni. So far her art can be found in these amazing books.

Book Review

I loved looking at all of Beth's hairstyles and choosing my favourite

This is a good story.

I love Beth’s hair and clips. I love combing hair and doing hairstyles like Beth’s.
I loved looking at all of Beth’s hairstyles and choosing my favourite.

My favourite part was when the dad did the parting in the hair because my mum does a parting in my hair too, that’s how you start nice hairstyles.
Lots of children will love this book because it’s the best book.
