Kid’s Book Review: Elf Dog and Owl Head

Kid’s Book Review: Elf Dog and Owl Head

About the Book and Author

Clay has had enough of home life. A global plague has brought the world to a screeching halt, and with only a summer of video-calling friends and bickering with his sisters ahead, he’s only too happy to retreat to the woods.

From the moment the little dog with the ornate collar appears like a spirit among the trees, Clay sees something otherworldly in her. With this mysterious hound, Elphinore, as guide, he glimpses ancient secrets folded into the forest and wanders paths deep into the unknown. But there are traps and terrors in the woods, too, and if Clay isn’t careful, he might lose his way for ever.

Book Review

If you love magic, dogs and adventure this is the book for you!

When the world is brought to standstill with sickness a boy called Clay finds an extraordinary dog from an unknown land, roaming in the forest. The dog has red pointy ears and looks nothing like a dog he has seen before. Now he goes on magical journeys through other lands.

I really enjoyed the book because it is a fantastic, fantasy, adventure story. I would recommend you to read this book. If you love magic, dogs and adventure this is the book for you!
My favourite in the story was when the sweater sheep and the shirt A-Saurus come alive through magic from another one of the lands.

My least favourite part was when clay gets grounded. I kept wondering if Clay was ever going to go on any more adventures or his sister D Rossi was going to have all the fun…

The book is a fantasy book I would recommend it for children aged 8 to 12 years. I thought the illustrations in the book were a bit creepy sometimes, but they did add to the drama.
I would give the book 8/10 as there were a few bone chilling anticipation moments which left me wanting me to know what was going to happen next.
