Kid’s Book Review: Fletcher and the Rockpool

Kid’s Book Review: Fletcher and the Rockpool

About the Book and Author

This is a lovely picture book for young children featuring the adorable fox character called Fletcher.  In this gentle story written by Julia Rawlinson Fletcher tumbles happily onto the beach where he is dazzled by the sun, sea and space. He soon finds a rockpool full of new friends…

As you can see from the short film the story is beautifully illustrated in soft pastels by Tiphanie Beeke.  The Fletcher stories are all published by Graffeg.

Book Review

The sparkly waves on the last page are fun

Theo’s comments: I love Fletcher’s adventures. He finds so many things on the beach and he loves the water like me. I love looking at the pictures of the fish, the limpets and the crab. I also love seeing the sea at night and the big moon. The sparkly waves on the last page are fun.

Mum’s Opinion : A great book about Fletcher, the fox cub stumbling across a rock pool on the beach and finding all sorts of exciting sea creatures from crabs to sea anemones. Fletcher feels he needs to save the sea creatures as the water disappears from the rock pool with the tide but it soon fills up the next day. It is lovely for little ones to follow Fletcher’s adventures on the beach and for them to learn the names of different sea creatures. The book is brilliantly illustrated and we love the glittery waves on the last page.
