Kid’s Book Review: Frank the Unicorn Alpaca

Kid’s Book Review: Frank the Unicorn Alpaca

About the Book and Author and Illustrator

Frank lives in a petting zoo, full of wonderful cuddly animals and the children who visit them. But he feels like he doesn’t fit in and he hides so the children can’t laugh at him and his silly ears.

But one day he discovers a book about unicorns . . . and wakes up to a horn (ice-cream cone) on his head! His dream has come true – he is a fabulous unicorn and feels loved and confident in himself. And when he performs a daring rescue he comes to see that he is perfect just the way he is.

Book Review

I was able to read it myself as the text was a good size and not too much on one page

Cedar: We took this book away with us and read it over the week. The front cover was funny as it was very bright with a flying unicorn alpaca on. I was able to read it myself as the text was a good size and not too much on one page. The story was about frank the alpaca who lived in a zoo and didn’t like it, he dreams of becoming a unicorn and saves a girl at the zoo. It also had pictures throughout telling the story, I found it funny as it made me laugh to see what Frank would do next.

Mum: This made us laugh from start to finish and to see how Frank and his confidence grew throughout the book by becoming a ‘unicorn’ sends a great message. It didn’t take long to finish and looked forward to picking it up each night to read. The illustrations were simple but effective, and great for Cedar’s age.
