Kid’s Book Review: Hurricane Summer

About the Book and Author

In this book, Tilla and her sister go to stay with their extended family in Jamaica. Although she was dreading seeing her mostly absent father, once she got there she began to realise the true beauty of the country.

However, the good comes with bad as Tilla struggles to fit in with her Jamaican family and many of them do not accept her for her ways.

As she struggles to find love on the island the hurricane is on its way bringing with it more troubles for Tilla and her family, can she rectify things before she goes home or will she leave in catastrophe?

Book Review

I felt like I had known the characters in real life

I really enjoyed reading this book and I knew I would because I had previously picked it up to look at the blurb in Waterstones. One of my favourite things about it was the front cover because it was so eye-catching and beautiful.

One thing I really enjoyed about this was the emotions, throughout the book I felt like I became even more connected to the characters. I think all the characters had their own personalities and I felt like I had known them in real life and not just from reading about them.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes romance books with a bit of adventure and emotion in it. I would say you should be over thirteen to read it though.

Although I didn’t read the dictionary like thing at the front I did find some of the Jamaican words to translate at the beginning I eventually understood it and overall really enjoyed it.
