Kid’s Book Review: Kofi and the Secret Radio Station

Kid’s Book Review: Kofi and the Secret Radio Station

About the Book and Author

Kofi has discovered a secret radio station – in a place no one will ever look. It doesn’t take him long to think he can make something out of it. He and Shanice get a load of kids interested in taking part and having their moment on Clipper FM . . . But when the radio station vanishes overnight and one of Kofi’s friends is accused of stealing, then the whole beautiful plan starts to fall apart . . .

Can Kofi and his best mate Kelvin unravel the mystery, stay out of trouble and do their homework – all without mum and dad spotting anything – before teatime?

Book Review

The different raps which came up through the book are fun and I enjoyed trying them out

It was good to read a second book with these fantastic characters. My favourite characters in this one were Leroy and Shanice. I honestly wasn’t as keen on Kofi this time as he seemed very selfish.
The small side stories in this were really good, I loved how everyone’s stories linked together in ways I didn’t at all see coming.

The different raps which came up through the book are fun and I enjoyed trying them out. I like the setting on the housing estate but I would like a story set more in the current time as I had to ask my parents about some of the shows mentioned in the book. The school descriptions still felt very recognisable though.

I think this is a good book for ages 9+ but I have to admit that I didn’t enjoy it as much as the first book in the series Kofi and the Rap Battle Summer
