Kid’s Book Review: Megamonster

About the Book and Author

Here is another entertaining adventure story for readers aged 7-11 years from the bestselling writer David Walliams and illustrator Tony Ross.

On a volcanic island, in the middle of shark-infested waters, stands The Cruel School. The lessons are appalling, the school dinners are revolting and the teachers are terrifying – especially the mysterious Science teacher Doctor Doktur.

When Larker is sent to the school, she quickly realises something very odd is going on… something involving Doctor Doktur, a pair of strange spectacles, and a ‘Monsterfication Machine’. Ultimately she finds herself face to face with a real life Megamonster with no prospect of escape…

Book Review

If you like to be grossed out by stuff then this is the book for you!

This book is brilliant! I ended up staying an hour later at night still reading it, due to its cliffhangers at the end of each chapter. I would read it a hundred times if I had to!

I love the way David Walliams (the well known and loved author) writes in a way that is good for people like me who don’t like too many words on a page. I love the use of pictures and there is one on every other page so you can picture the story better in your head.

The book is about a school called ‘The Cruel School’ and as you have probably guessed, it is horrible. It is where naughty children go and face their consequences. In the school there is an evil scientist and her laboratory assistant; the pair create a machine that turns you into monsters. Could they be more evil?

If you like to be grossed out by stuff then this is the book for you. I also enjoyed this book because in the school there are a bunch of horrible teachers that made me laugh. I believe this book is good for any age even if they have to have it read to them. Once again, I loved this book because it was very entertaining!

Thanks for the opportunity to read this book is was amazing 🙂
