Kid’s Book Review: Miles Morales – Stranger Tides

Kid’s Book Review: Miles Morales – Stranger Tides

About the Book and Author

Fans of Spiderman rejoice!

Miles Morales has just about gotten used to this being Spider-Man thing. Keeping Brooklyn safe, taking down bad guys, and finishing his homework – he’s got this! But when Spider-Man is invited to a launch for a brand-new video game, things go sideways fast. Anyone who plays the game is frozen, and it’s all because of a villain named the Stranger. He’s judged humanity and found it lacking, and his idea of justice is extreme.

Left with the fate of the world in his hands, and the clock is ticking on Miles. Can he turn old foes to friends and find the answers he needs in time?

This action packed graphic novel is written by Jason Reynolds and has full-colour illustrations throughout by illustrator Pablo Leon.

Jason Reynolds has always wanted to be a writer. The earliest documentation of this desire was recorded on a sheet of green, learn-how-to-write-with-a-jumbo-pencil ruled kindergarten paper, which can be found prominently displayed in his mom’s office. OPPOSITE OF ALWAYS, his debut novel, was an Indies Introduce Top Ten Debut, a School Library Journal Best Book of 2019, translated in 17 languages, and is being developed for film with Paramount Players.

Pablo Leon is an author and artist from Guatemala, currently living in Los Angeles, California, jumping between working in the TV animation industry and comics world. His original comic “The Journey”, about the true accounts of people migrating from Central America to the U.S., was a 2019 Eisner Award nominee. His other clients include Warner Brothers Animation, OddBot Inc, DreamWorks Animation, Bento Box Entertainment, and more.

Book Review

The author of this book has put in lots of detailed information which made the book more scary, exciting and entertaining

The main character in this book is called Miles Morales and he is Spiderman. When Miles watches the news, he finds out that the people of Brooklyn are frozen. So Miles’ heroic and adventurous mission is to find the bad guys who did this.

I like the part where Miles (Spiderman) has invisibility and he destroys the hospital equipment by accident. This was hilarious. I also liked the bit where Miles breaks Ganke’s laptop with his web. I dislike the part where Miles hears that his uncle died. I also disliked the bit where Spiderman was involved in a firework explosion.

I would recommend this book to children aged between 7-9 years because it has tons of action and dangerous elements. I would rate this book 10 out of 10 because it has lots of drama and funny parts.

The author of this book (Justin A Reynolds) has put in lots of detailed information which made the book more scary, exciting and entertaining.
