Kid’s Book Review: Omnie’s Journey Into Calm

Kid’s Book Review: Omnie’s Journey Into Calm

About the Book and Author / Illustrator

Join Ommie in an adventure through a magical garden full of animals, in this introduction to yoga for younger children.

Yoga is an ancient practice that develops and maintains health and well-being. It promotes flexibility, coordination and strength as well as teaching relaxation and mental control.

Each beautifully styled page shows little Ommie imitating the pose of an animal which demonstrates the key shape of each yoga pose.

The book is beautifully illustrated in a soothing muted colour palette and is printed with a matt finish of quality paper stock which has an organic feel about it.

Sirkka Fisk, creator of Ommie, spent 4 years with her husband and son living in Brunei, Borneo. While taking a sabbatical from her graphic design business Design Syndicate, she became a certified Ashtanga yoga and Pilates teacher, having been practicing yoga enthusiastically since the late 90’s.

Omnie was born when a book ordered online for her son didn’t arrive in time for Christmas. Rather than facing disappointment, she set out to create a picture book that brought together her love for yoga and passion for design.

Book Review

I liked this book because when I read it at bedtime with my mummy it was very relaxing

I liked this book because when I read it at bedtime with my mummy it was very relaxing.

I enjoyed all the different animals that were on Ommies boat and the different yoga positions they do.

The part at the back of the book which shows you each pose is good too and I do these on my own in my bedroom.
