Kid’s Book Review: Pirate Galleon

About the Book and Author / Illustrator

Pirate Galleon is the second story in the series of adventures of Charlie Small. It is set on the high seas because in this book he finds himself working as a cabin boy on a pirate ship.

Charlie is a 12-year old boy who repeatedly falls through a gap in space and time and ends up in a series of extraordinary adventures which he records in a diary format. Each book records a different adventure and readers will find the pages of the diary describing Charlies’s exciting adventure packed full of fun, maps, illustrations, inventions and survival tips.

The Charlie Small series has been re-published by indie press Guppy Publishing.

Nick Ward has written over sixty books for children, from picture books to young fiction. His book “Don’t Eat The Teacher” has sold over a million copies and his alter-ego Charlie Small has written twelve volumes of unbelievable but completely true adventurous memoirs. Book Review

I really love that the pirates are fierce females

Pirate Galleon by Nick Ward is a very enticing book, and makes you want to read more and more of it.

The words the author uses describe the characters in a lot of detail. Each chapter keeps you guessing. I really love that the pirates are fierce females.

The drawings matched the authors words perfectly and we’re so detailed. The layout of the book was very interesting since, it was like a diary.

I would recommend this book to kids my age who enjoy adventure books.

I devoured this book within 2 days and I think it’s one of the best books I’ve read.
