Kid’s Book Review: Skater Cielo

Kid’s Book Review: Skater Cielo

About the Book and Author / Illustrator

Cielo wants to be a skateboarder but learning a new skill is going to take time and she is bound to experience set-backs, disappointment and possibly embarrassment in the early days. This picture book has a message for young readers about facing your fear of failing and finding the courage to persevere! This important message about being determined, resilient and courageous can be applied to all sorts of situations such as swimming, riding a bike or learning to play a musical instrument.

Book Review

It was great friends to have friends who encouraged Cielo to never give up

Edith really found this book interesting learning about the different skater board tricks / stunts that the little girl could do and the glossary at the back was great to understand what was actually involved.
She found it very sad that the Cielo lost confidence in her skate boarding ability and was very pleased that her friends encouraged and supported her to get back on her slate board and to never give and keep trying her best.

I enjoyed reading this book with Edith as it was something different and exciting, the only thing I did feel a bit disappointed with was the ending it felt like it came to an abrupt end and there could have been more made of how she felt after she achieved the big whale drop and praise from her friends, this would have ended it nicely. However, Edith and I talked about this an discussed how she must have felt and that it was great to have friends who encouraged her to never give up.
