About the Book and Author
Welcome to Cod’s Bottom – the sleepy seaside town with a secret! Readers should get ready to meet an unusual cast of ghosts in a laugh-out-loud new middle-grade series by Steven Butler.
There’s nothing out of the ordinary about ten-year-old Ella Griffin. Nothing at all . . . until she’s forced to move to the seaside town of Cod’s Bottom and everything changes. In search of adventure, Ella stumbles into an old abandoned theatre, but all is not as it seems. Because the theatre isn’t empty, it’s haunted by weird and wonderful ghosts, and they need her help to save them!

Book Review
humorous and mysterious
The reason why I liked this book is because it is humorous and mysterious.
The name of the town (Cods Bottom) describes the town a lot.
My favourite character is Ella because she has just moved to this town from London and she loves the theatre. Also she thinks this town is a dump and there’s seagull poo everywhere. Then she finds something.
Something that would change her thoughts about the town. She also meets someone she doesn’t like and the way she gets away from her is very funny.
Sometimes the book can make you question things which made me want to read on to see what happens. Over all this is a very good book and I definitely recommend it.
