About the Book and Author
In this happy, vibrant picture book the reader gets drawn into the excitement and anticipation during the preparations for the celebration of Diwali. The story touches on the relationships children have with their sometimes annoying siblings that kids will be able to relate to. The book also includes some interesting factual information about the festival of light and how it is celebrated around the world by different faiths.
This year, Ariana has plans to make Diwali an extra special celebration, with yummy sweets, divas around the house, pretty clothes, fireworks and… the rangoli competition, of course.
“This year, I am DEFINITELY going to win the rangoli competition.”
Everything would go perfectly to plan if it weren’t for Rafi, her annoying little brother, always up to mischief…and always being clumsy! Will he ruin Diwali too?
I have an annoying brother too like Ariana
Hattie loved the bright colours in this book. She searched each page for “beautiful patterns”. Her favourite page was the one showing fireworks and sparklers. Hattie had lots of questions about fireworks and rangoli. We looked at the fact pages at the back of the book to answer these, and watched some videos too.
Hattie could identify with Ariana having an annoying little brother saying she has one of those!
