Kid’s Book Review: The Last Bear

Kid’s Book Review: The Last Bear

About the Book and Author

This is a moving story that will appeal to any young reader who likes animals, especially if they have experience of forming a bond or connection with a pet. It will also inspire children to understand that no one is too young or insignificant to make a difference in this world and sometimes it takes a while for grown-ups to listen!

To quote Harper Collins, the publishers,  “The Last Bear is a celebration of the love between a child and an animal, a battle cry for our world and an irresistible adventure with a heart as big as a bear’s”

There are no polar bears left on Bear Island. At least, that’s what April’s father tells her when his scientific research takes them to this remote Arctic outpost for six months. But one endless summer night, April meets one. He is starving, lonely and a long way from home. Determined to save him, April begins the most important journey of her life…

Hannah Gold author

Hannah Gold grew up in a family where books, animals, and the beauty of the outside world were ever present, and is passionate about writing stories that share her love of the planet. She now lives in the UK with her tortoise, her cat, and her husband and, when not writing, is busy hunting for her next big animal story as well as practicing her roar. The Last Bear is remarkably her debut novel. We hope it will be the first of many.

Book Review

I love the way the book makes you feel the polar bear is a friend not a foe

I really like how it makes you feel like April has a connection with animals right from the start with the foxes in her garden.

I also love the way the book makes you feel the polar bear is a friend not a foe.

When her dad shouted at April, I felt sorry for her.

Finally although there are not many pictures when you imagine the scenes it is amazing and the actual pictures are stunning!

I give this book 5 stars and I would definitely recommend it to any animal lovers!
