Kid’s Book Review: The Roar

Kid’s Book Review: The Roar

About the Book and Author

From the team who created Hug here is another lovely picture book exploring feelings and friendship, published by Faber.

There were so many things that Tortoise wanted to do. So many games to play and rocks to climb.
But when he was unable to join in Tortoise was sad.

But his friend Hedgehog sits and waits and then makes Tortoise laugh – taking the time to let the moment pass, and acknowledge how Tortoise feels.

Book Review

This book provided a lovely framework for discussing how you can help when someone is feeling sad

Zaki listened carefully and commented on what was happening in the pictures. The clear simple illustrations and short sentences kept him engaged throughout.

This book provided a lovely framework for discussing how you can help when someone is feeling sad; we talked about the sorts of things Zaki likes others to do when he is feeling sad and what he might try when someone else is feeling sad.

The length of the book was just right for a toddler.
