About the Book, Author and Illustrator
The Versatile Reptile is the sixth book in the Animal Surprises series by the duo, following Animal Surprises, Into the Blue, The Word Bird, The Secret of the Egg and Invertebrates are Cool! The series is written by Nicola Davies, illustrated by Abbie Cameron and published by Graffeg.
Informative, fun and interesting they are perfect for children aged 5 years + who ask questions about the natural world (at home or in the classroom).
I love the puzzle page at the end!
We did read the book but I think at the time (when she was just 4 years ) it felt a little bit too old for her. The book has more factual content and Freida is more drawn to a story to keep her interested.
We picked this book back up last week to read again to write our missed review and I found that Freida, now nearly 5 years old, showed more interest in the book, she seemed to learn facts from the book through rhyme and it prompted her to ask questions about reptiles!
We loved the illustrations and the use of bold colours throughout and she extremely loved the puzzle page at the end.
We also read the last page which described both Nicola Davies and Abbie Cameron in detail- it was nice to have some extra detail about the author and illustrator and their additional rhyming book series 😊
I would recommend the book, however, I would aim the book for those of ages 5+.
